I saw the picture above on a blue door in a Paris neighborhood today-Rue Marthre. Whoever posted this picture was obviously paying homage to the great star. The french people often refer to the star as Bambi. Can someone explain why to me?

Bambi because he had Bambi's eyes. ;-)
It's not rue Marthre but Rue Sainte Marthe.

Parce-que Bambi était l'un de ses dessin animé préféré, et tout comme lui il avait l'air innocent et tout gentil.
